How to Prepare Your Music Production Portfolio

We know that students interested in music production have a broad range of background skills and talents and can approach the subject differently. This means we don’t want to be prescriptive about what we ask you to present in your portfolio – we want you to show us what you are creating or listening to at the moment, and to share your passion for one aspect of music production with us.

Therefore, please select ONE of the following approaches:

  1. If you are a performer who produces and performs their own music you can film yourself performing a piece to the camera. At the start, State your name why you have chosen the piece, and what production techniques you have used.  Then upload your film via the Dropbox link.

  2. If you create, produce, and record your own music, please select and upload one of your tracks in MP4 or a similar format to the Dropbox link. Also, we would like you to film a short piece of video footage where you speak to the camera, introducing yourself and the track you have uploaded. Explain why you have chosen this track, how you have created it, and what you like about it.
  3. If you have a real passion for music production, but aren’t yet producing your own track or performing, we would like you to select a music producer or track that you really like, and then film a short piece of video footage where you speak to the camera, introduce yourself and explain your interest in music production and to then introduce the track/producer you have selected and explain why you have chosen it and why you are interested in it.

  4. Don’t worry, when creating your short film – we’re not looking for a multi-camera film shoot! Mobile phone footage is fine as long as we can see and hear you clearly.

Using the link below, upload your portfolio materials – video footage and a track if you wish to.
