COURSE INFORMATION

Course overview
  • Explore various 3D and 2D animation and modelling techniques and how to produce digital artwork and assets.
  • Use industry standard software and hardware in a studio environment such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Produce concept art in various styles.
  • Design and produce in game playable assets such as weapons, vehicles and characters.
  • Production of 2D and 3D digital graphics
  • Understanding how to use game engines and create playable levels and games.
Entry Requirements

Due to our Funding Body restrictions, we can only accept applications for BTEC study from students who live in the North-West region of England. For further information about our eligibility criteria please email our admissions team who can provide further advice and guidance.

  • A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • For students without a Grade 4, or above, in English and Maths, you will need to resit these qualifications at LMA.
Progression Routes

After the Post-16 course, students can progress via many different routes.

The following are examples of what students may go on to do:

  • Study for a BA Hons Degree here at LMA or at another university
  • Further specialist training
  • Employment in the games industry

BTEC Extended Diploma in Digital Games Art is a two year course that involves studying and implementing a range of techniques specifically for the gaming industry.The course acts as a technical foundation so that by the end of their two year study, students will have a sophisticated set of skills that will enable them to specialise as they move into higher education or into industry.
