BTEC Musical Theatre


Course Overview

The Extended Diploma is broadly equivalent to three A Levels.

The following subjects make the programme of study:

  • Vocal Technique
  • Dance Technique 
  • Acting Styles
  • Performance Skills
  • Devising Material
  • Improvisation
  • Storytelling 
  • Audition Technique
  • Rehearsal Technique
  • Performing Arts Industry
Entry Requirements
  • A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • For students without a Grade 4, or above, in English and Maths, you will need to resit these qualifications at LMA.
  • Digital audition
Progression Routes

After the Post-16 course, students can progress via many different routes.

The following are examples of what students may go on to do:

  • Study for a BA Hons Degree here at LMA or at another university or specialist drama/dance school
  • Professional performance work
  • Performing and teaching after further training
  • Theatre in education

The Post-16 BTEC Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre is a two year course that involves the study of a range of performance techniques, performance skills and the theoretical aspects of the art form.
