WHERE DO I ORDER GOWNS?

We encourage all graduates to wear academic dress. This comprises a gown, hood and mortarboard.

You must order your gown hire in advance from the LMA supplier. This can be done via their online hire shop. Graduation Attire is now open for bookings.

The cost of the day hire is £39.60, extended is £75 (you will be given a pre paid envelope to send back within 5 days to the hire company) and to buy is £150.

Please have the following details ready:

  • height
  • chest measurement
  • hat size (circumference of your head taken just above your ears)
  • the date of your ceremony
  • your qualification

WHERE AND WHEN SHOULD I COLLECT MY GOWN?

You will be able to collect your gown from the ‘Welcome and Registration’ area at METQUARTER on the 24/7/25. We recommend that you arrive 60 – 90 minutes ahead of the start of your ceremony to register, collect your cap & gown and make your way to St Georges Hall.

Staff will be available to help you into your robes and show you how to position the hood.

The gown is yours to keep for the day, but must be returned back to the  METQUARTER no later than 5pm. If you fail to do so you will be charged by the supplier not LMA.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

The award ceremony is a formal occasion and we encourage graduates to dress appropriately. You will find it useful to wear a buttoned top to which the academic hood can be fastened, or alternatively bring some small safety pins to affix the button-loop of the hood to your clothes. Hair pins are also useful to secure the mortar board (hat).

Graduation attire for students graduating with a Bachelor of Art BA:

  • Gown: Black
  • Hood: Aberdeen shape, in black, lined with peacock blue, and tipped red embossed silk

Hat: Black cloth square cap with black tassel.

WILL GRADUATES BE PHOTOGRAPHED AS THEY CROSS THE STAGE?

All students will be photographed as they cross the stage and receive their certificates. These photos will be available for FREE and shared with all Graduates one week after the event via their LMA email addresses.

You are allowed to capture your own photographs and videos, before, during and after the ceremony.

CAN I DEFER UNTIL NEXT YEAR?

It will not be possible to defer to a future ceremony.

HOW MANY GUESTS CAN I BRING?

You are allowed THREE FREE guest tickets for your Graduation ceremony. This is to ensure we can comfortably accommodate all graduates and their guests in the ceremony hall.

Tickets will be available to claim week commencing 12/5/25. All level 6 students will be sent an email to their LMA email address. Please check your inbox week commencing 12/5/25.

* Please note, you will NOT receive a ticket in advance of graduation, instead you will be required to report to the accreditation desks on your graduation day where you will receive your wristbands for entrance into the ceremony.

GRADUATION CERTIFICATE

Official graduate certificates are created by the University of Northampton (UoN). These are generated following the UoN academic board meetings, in the summer.

These will be posted to home addresses after the graduation celebration.

On the day of graduation, LMA will issue you with a celebratory certificate to acknowledge all of your hard work.
